L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Black is fantastic, ladies! I'm a Pro MUA and highly sceptical of (almost) every "Greatest new technology" product that comes my way - especially since it seems in recent months some companies have been "discovering" brand new technologies", about an average of four times a month, when it comes to mascara!
It cost £10.99 normally, but you will see that Chemist Direct have an introductory price just now of £7.99, and I definitely urge you to get this now, because I think it's going to sell like hot-cakes!
I bought it in black because I don't "do" brown mascara, and well..I was NOT let-down by my expectations of THIS mascara - because I HAD none to start off with!
The mascara itself is housed in a very premium and elegant-looking shiny gold tube, which to be honest - is more than slightly phallic-looking in appearance, so I expect we will see a *LOT* of comments to that effect, on Beauty Blogs etc..^_~
The name of the mascara (which is Volume Million Lashes, for those of you who have NOT been paying attention to the "Science bit") is written in gold along a vertical black stripe. I suspect the black may chip RIGHT off with time, but this is NOT a review about the packaging - as nice as it is - so now let's get to the juice inside!
Now..I'm someone who likes to examine in GREAT detail, the brush of every one of these "Next great mascaras," and this one is really unique..
There is a wipe-clean mechanism house about 1/4 of an inch into the mascara tube, which effectively ensures there is NO excess mascara on the brush with which to overload your lashes!
This is quite honestly such an ingenious idea, that you can bet all the big cosmetic giants will wish they had come up with it first!
So the brush itself on inspection is not traditional in shape, and it's not one of those with incredibly hard plastic teeth either - and thankfully (for me at least), it is NOT a comb. It's large in diameter, and some people may think it's TOO large, but I like the brush of a mascara to be big (the bigger the better!) and so I was happy with my initial inspection.
There is a very satisfying "popping" noise that happens whenever you remove the brush from the tube. This in fact indicates that the wipe-clean system is in effect, and yes, it definitely does remove every last excess trace of mascara from the brush, leaving you with a perfect amount on the brush to do one coat on BOTH eyes!
Now I usually curl my lashes before applying mascara, but although curling is NOT an attribute to expect from this mascara, I thought I would just apply the mascara without curling, nor prepping my lashes first of all with a base-coat..
This mascara is a real dream - honestly. One coat gave long, full evenly-fanned-out lashes and I did NOT need to touch then up even ONCE with my metal eyelash comb. Volume Million Lashes scores major Brownie points from me for that aspect ALONE!
eI also was able to take in almost ALL my lashes from nearest my nose out to the outer corner, with one swoop of the wand.
I then applied one coat to my other eye, returning to then apply a second coat to my first eye etc.
Now..Some of you may in fact LIKE the way your lashes look after only ONE coat, as it offers great definition, strongly pigmented black colour, seriously full AND long lashes, and a look that is, certainly dramatic..
But I like LOTS of mascara, so in to apply the second coat I went,, with trepidation, because as you all know, that second 3d, 4th, 5th) coat of mascara can be the deal breaker- on how WELL a mascara performs..
SO I held my breath, and applied, and.I was really thrilled with how good and plump AND long my lashes looked. FANTASTIC! No clumps and STILL no need for my trust metal eyelash comb.
I found my lashes DID stay curled, which was a pleasant surprise, and this has serious staying-power, despite not being waterproof..However I found it a cinch to remove with a good oil-based eyemakeup remover. Almond or Jojoba oil is EVERY girl's best friend for removing ALL mascaras. Gentle and kind to the delicate skin around the eye area - and VERY easy on the pocket!
I love this mascara. It really does exactly what it says on tin - which is precisely why I will be snapping another up before Chemist Direct sell out!
The true test of the product will be in a fortnight, as for me that is when a mascara will either prove it's a golden treasure - or a golden turkey if it dries out WAY too quickly..
But the formula of this, brand-new today tube is fairly thick, gives a slightly glossy look to the lashes, and didn't flake even after 9 HOURS!!
I am now required by the new Blog and review laws to tell you that this was bought by ME with my VERY hard-earned cash, and was NOT in any WAY given to me in return for my revie!
I mean..Are they kidding? They have obviously MISSED some of my most SCATHING reviews, because ladies, I do NOT miss and hit the wall, if a product IS rubbish - I will tell it JUST like it is!
But this is NOT a bad product, this is my new baby and I really hope you will all at least give it a whirl.
So now I am off to seek what they are claiming will be the "Next great mascara!" But it is seriously ALMOST going to have to be able to do the dishes itself - to made me give up THIS one.
Volume Million Lashes - it's great, and it does NOT cost a small fortune - so go and get yourself one now - because THIS one is MINE! ^_^ ..
